This weekend there were record windchills of nearly -40°F, and for many that means no biking. There are definitely dangers to going out in weather that cold and you have to be careful. But do you need special clothes to bike in weather that cold?

I thought so for a long time until I finally braved the weather and started experimenting. What I learned was that it’s actually not difficult to pick a winter biking outfit and you can do it with clothes you probably already have!

Here is some of my advice for dressing comfortably and not spending a fortune trying to bike in the winter:
