Once completed, the Somerville Community Path Extension (CPX) will form a key link in the region’s bike network and, as a result, will see strong usage from people biking and walking. Yet the state’s plans call for creating a multi-use path that is only 10 feet wide — narrower than the width state and federal agencies recommend of 11′ to 14′.

On behalf of our members and Metro Boston’s bicyclists, we sent the following letter to Gov. Charlie Baker and state officials with oversight of this project asking that they widen the CPX.
