The Transportation for Massachusetts (T4MA) coalition released a report last month on the massive debts currently facing the Massachusetts transportation system. “Maxed Out: Massachusetts Transportation at a Financial Crossroads,”
details the state’s long dependence on borrowed money to fund necessary projects while facing obstacles in the pursuit of new revenue streams for operations, maintenance and enhancement projects.
A continued lack of revenue would have implications across the state on jobs, the environment and quality of life. The state will struggle to maintain the roads, bridges and transit systems that cyclists depend on.
