SUMMARY:Boston Neighborhood Bike Forum
DESCRIPTION:A BIPOC-led mobility justice convening with workshops\, rides\, and advocacy training.\nMake change in your neighborhood!\n10:00AM – 3:30 PM Saturday\, April 4th\, 2025\nBolling Building\n2300 Washington St\, Roxbury MA \nThe Boston Neighborhood Bike Forum (BNBF) uplifts BIPOC bicyclists across Greater Boston to build collective power and advance racial and economic justice in mobility. Although BIPOC residents comprise Boston’s majority\, they’re often excluded from decisions reshaping streets and neighborhoods. BNBF confronts this by centering BIPOC voices and solutions in transportation planning. \nHeld in 2017-2018 with 100+ attendees annually\, BNBF created space for organizing and policy influence. As cities transition toward biking and walking\, we ask: will this shift fuel displacement or support community self-determination? \nCome join us for: \n Workshops with major BIPOC and streets leaders\n Panel discussions with major figures in the transportation world\n A “bike rodeo” for kids ages 2-10 (bike provided\, no riding experience needed)\n Caribbean food from the incredible Fresh Foods Generation \nBike parking and child watch\, and interpretation services can be provided. For child watch\, make sure to tell us you need it in the form below! \nRSVP Here:\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/boston-neighborhood-bike-forum-tickets-1985064934656

SUMMARY:Boston City Council Hearing - Safe Streets & Budgeting
DESCRIPTION:Last month\, Councilors Durkan and Breadon called for two hearings after the bombshell Boston Globe report which uncovered that Mayor Wu was personally halting street safety projects. \nAdditionally\, in January\, Councilors Weber and Pepen called for a hearing discussing the results of last year’s 30-day Review and its implications in the year that followed it. \nThe momentum is real! We’re nearly at 750 unique letters in our Safe Streets Can’t Wait campaign\, making it one of the BCU’s most successful campaigns to date. We also have many City Councilors on our side asking the same questions. It’s up to us to show our strength in a moment like this. \nWe’re asking folks to make an attempt to attend in person if you can\, or call in to make public comments on Zoom. Let’s stand with the Councilors that are fighting for us and demand answers on why the safety of Bostonians is being halted! \nCity Council Committee on Planning\, Development\, and Transportation Hearing\nWednesday April 22\, 2026\n2:00PM\nIannella Chambers\, Boston City Hall \nDocket #0204 – Order for a hearing to discuss making neighborhood streets safer following the 30-day review of streets projects in Boston. \nDocket #0588 – Order for a hearing to discuss City of Boston transportation philosophy and status of infrastructure projects. \nDocket #0589 – Order for a hearing to discuss the status of state and federal funding allocated for transportation and streets projects. \nMore information: https://www.boston.gov/public-notices/16576791 \nNote: If you would like to testify via email\, the city is asking for you to email their staff (shane.pac@boston.gov) and request instructions for how to join.
