SUMMARY:Women’s Learn-to-Ride Workshop: Basic Skills
DESCRIPTION:In order to encourage more women to bike\, the City of Boston is offering several “Women’s Learn to Ride” clinics\, and a more advanced “Street Skills” class! Running from June through October\, these events are taught by women and open to all women and non-gender-conforming people who live in the city of Boston. The events are free\, but registration is required. \nThis class is appropriate for people who have never ridden a bike before\, or can ride a little but need to work on basic skills (starting\, stopping\, turning). It is taught entirely in a parking lot. Bikes and helmets are available upon request. \nDon’t miss your chance to gain skills and confidence to ride in the city! More info and registration information here.

DESCRIPTION:Each year first responders are called to a crash involving a person on a bike being struck by a car 160 times\, according to Cambridge Police Department data. That’s 160 times too many. Cambridge Bicycle Safety invites you to join us on October 17 in putting 160 bikes on the Cambridge City Hall lawn to raise awareness about the dangers of biking on our streets\, and to highlight how a city-wide network of protected bike lanes would keep everyone safer and welcome new riders who are too afraid to bike now. Meet people from all walks of life in Cambridge who bike\, hear their stories\, and show city officials your support for safer bike lanes.
