DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Bike Month 2022\, the Boston Cyclists Union is hosting a bike-in movie and community celebration! \nJoin us at Christian Herter Park‘s newly renovated amphitheater on the banks of the Charles River in Allston for a screening of Grecia White’s new Boston-based documentary\, Women Who Bike at Night\, as well as Gabriel Méndez Castaño short film\, Mensajeros de Boston (Bike Messengers of Boston)*. Both films will be followed by a Q&A session with the creators. \nREGISTER \n \nThe film screenings will be preceded by an outdoor celebration featuring A Trike Called Funk (Boston’s own pop-up party tricycle\, spinning songs to create a dance party for YOU!)\, pop-up bicycle repair provided by REI\, free El Pelón Taquería burritos for the first 100 guests\, and Frosty’s Ice Cream soft serve available for purchase. The event will also include a special “unveiling” of Herter Park’s new bike racks. \nFrom top to bottom\, first column: a still from Women Who Bike at Night\, soft serve from Frosty; second column: A Trike Called Funk dance party; third column: Los Mensajeros de Boston\, Frosty Ice Cream truck\, El Pelón calabacita burritos \nBYO water bottle – the Boston Water and Sewer Commission’s water truck will be serving up fresh Boston tap water. \nThis is a free event. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy pizza and bowling\, all while support this year’s Bos/treal riders in achieving their fundraising goals! \nBos/treal (Boss-tree-all) is a weeklong bike tour and fundraiser that benefits the Boston Cyclists Union’s work to improve biking for everyone in Boston. In 2022\, participants will ride nearly 300 miles over four days to Burlington\, VT. \nBos/treal is not only an amazing bike adventure and a gateway to biking longer distances\, but also a leadership pipeline for bike advocacy and a major source of support for the BCU’s work to make biking better in Boston. \nHelp this year’s riders meet their fundraising goals by joining us for a Benefit Night on Tuesday\, May 17 at American Flatbread\, located in Sacco’s Bowl Haven in Davis Square\, Somerville. A portion of proceeds from every pizza purchased between 4:00 – 10:00 PM goes towards our riders!

SUMMARY:2022 Neighborhood Ride Series: Mattapan "Tour de Farms"
DESCRIPTION:Join the BCU on a slow-pace\, 5-mile bike ride around Mattapan to visit the Edgewater Food Forest and the Fowler Clark Epstein Farm to checkout their seedling sale. While we will do our best to keep everyone safe\, this ride is primarily on roads that do not have bike paths or bike lanes so participants should feel comfortable biking on roads and able to ride up and down small hills. \nWe can provide up to 15 BlueBikes for participants who indicate in advance that they would like a free bike for the ride. Please indicate this when you sign up. \nAt the end of the ride we will have a community celebration with music by A Trike Called Funk\, snacks from P & R Ice Cream\, and a guided tour of the Boston Nature Center. \n(In case you were thinking of driving your bike here\, there are very few parking spaces at Boston Nature Center. We encourage you to bike to the start and if it’s far from your home\, there will be more neighborhood rides this year that are closer to you!) \n*Restrooms will be available at Boston Nature Center | Please No bikes on lawn area \nHow to Prepare \nPlease bring water with you. We will have jugs to refill water bottles. Helmets are encouraged but not required. We will have a bike pump\, but no other tools so your bike should be in working condition. DESCRIPTION:This year the BCU is organizing monthly group rides from May through September. We need ride marshals to ensure that riders stay together safely. \nThis virtual training will review the basics of marshaling rides. The training will be led by Yari DeJesus\, BCU Special Events Manager; Peter Cheung\, R4BL organizer and former Boston Bike Party leader; and Eliza Parad\, BCU Director of Organizing and Operations. We will also share volunteer incentives for helping us with rides this summer\, and you will get to meet other marshals. \nOur first ride is Saturday\, May 14 and we can’t do it without you!
