SUMMARY:Hyde Park Multimodal Corridor Open House
DESCRIPTION:Boston is kicking off a process to address traffic problems plaguing Hyde Park Ave. While this project is focused primarily on transit improvements\, it’s important for people who bike to engage early in this process and push for improvements that would make biking safer and easier along this corridor too. \nAt this kickoff meeting\, the Boston Transportation Department will discuss short-term plans for improving Hyde Park Ave. from Forest Hills to Wolcott Square\, and gather public feedback on future changes. \nYou can also submit feedback to BTD by taking their survey here.

SUMMARY:West Roxbury Bicycle Committee: Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The West Roxbury Bicycle Committee formed in February 2019 to organize bicyclists and advocate for safer bicycle infrastructure in West Roxbury. Our priority focus areas are the Centre Street business district and the parkways (especially the parkway section of Centre Street between the Arborway and Weld Street). These streets all need protected bike lanes\, because they are all much too dangerous for riders. \nAs of summer 2019\, we are currently in a major campaign to promote BTD’s proposal for a road diet in the Centre Street business district. This proposal includes a protected bike lane. It would convert Centre Street from one of the worst streets in the city for bicyclists to a people-centered space with comfortable accommodations for people traveling in all modes and allow people to safely ride\, walk\, drive and cross the street. \nWe are always seeking new members of the West Roxbury Bicycle Committee–please connect with us and get involved! \n\nMeetings: Second Wednesday each month at 7pm at Squealing Pig\nNewsletter: Sign up here\nStay in Touch: Twitter / Facebook\nContact: westroxbikes@bostoncyclistsunion.org

SUMMARY:Arborway Parkways Improvement Project Public Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join the meeting virtually: bit.ly/Arborway6-24\nJoin the meeting by phone: (631) 992-322 \nAt this public meeting\, the second to date for the Arborway project\, DCR will provide an overview of the design process and solicit public feedback. DCR will then refine designs this year\, with the goal to begin implementing changes in 2021. \nSpeaking up now\, at this early stage in the planning process\, is critical to shaping the final design. DCR knows the Arborway needs protected bike lanes\, but we must hold the agency accountable to finally following through with them. \nPlease join us in asking DCR to: \nImplement traffic calming to reduce vehicle speeds\nAdd physically separated bike lanes\, or an off-road\, shared-use path\nCreate safer crossings for people walking; crossings should be one lane or signalized\, and need to be ADA accessible\nIncrease the amount of green space and trees — put the PARK back in Parkway!\nLimit carriage roads to local traffic and bicycles\, and direct through traffic into center lanes \nBackground and more info here.
