In 2011, REEP youth launched the Grow or Die campaign in response to the lack of healthy and affordable food in our neighborhoods. We began taking over neglected and vacant lots and building raised beds to grow our own food. This season, over 100 Roxbury and Dorchester families will produce 1,200 pounds of organic vegetables.
Start and end location is our garden at the intersection of Washington Street and Shawmut Avenue in Dudley Square.
Light lunch will be provided at 1:00 p.m.
Please bring your bike.
Huge thanks to our friends at Bikes Not Bombs who have generously offered to guide the tour!
“The food system we know is rooted in racism, poverty, and corporate greed. Food should be about life, growth, health, community, and justice.” (Excerpt from the Grow or Die launch statement, October 2011)
