Bike the Vote 2017

Find out where your candidates stand on transportation issues!

Four years ago we worked with a coalition of organizations to design and distribute the 2013 Mayoral Bike Questionnaire, which made transportation policy and biking key issues in the election. This year, in addition to the mayoral races in Boston and Somerville, we’ve expanded to engage with City Council candidates in Boston, Cambridge and Somerville.

We’ve seen time and time again that City Councilors who care about or are knowledgeable about the importance of bike infrastructure and transportation policy can help move us towards a better biking future for our cities.

Working with members of the Vision Zero Coalition, we put together a new candidate questionnaire that asks important questions like:

How would you ensure fast-tracked implementation of a city-wide network of off-street paths and protected bike lanes on major thoroughfares and connecting streets that are comfortable for people of all ages and abilities?

How will you increase access to biking in every neighborhood equally?  What do you see as the major obstacles to ridership and how would you address them?

The candidate responses to the 2017 questionnaire are now available.
